Friends of CJCs

Friends of the Children’s Justice Centers (FCJCs) are separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that provide community support to their local CJCs, as well as to victims of child abuse and neglect.

There are five Friends of the Children’s Justice Centers on Oahu, Maui, Kauai, East Hawaii (Hilo) and West Hawaii (Kona). Each Friends group is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and its board members, staff and volunteers represent members of the community who are committed to supporting children. Our Purpose:

The Friends groups are all similar in that they strive to provide financial and other support to CJC in its efforts to improve the system response to children who are victims of abuse/serious maltreatment and children who witness crime.


  • Center Support: Provide stuffed animals, blankets, snacks, beverages, books, games, décor for CJC, etc. for children who come to the Center.
  • Training: Provide funds for professionals in the field of child abuse to attend specialized training.
  • Special Needs: Help to provide children with items and/or services that help to maintain or enhance the normalcy of their childhood.
  • Foster Care: Necessary items for children who need to be placed into temporary foster care.
  • Prevention/Community Awareness: Education for children and adults about child abuse and ways to strengthen families.
